Four Core Anticancer Supplements

  1. Vitamin C

    Vitamin C may be one of the most powerful immunity-boosting anticancer supplements in nature as it is linked to cancer eradication. Medical News Today reported many other benefits such as lowering cholesterol, protection against heart disease, and lower the risk of cataracts.
    Dr Connealy highly recommends Vitamin C as a supplement for everyone whether you’re looking to treat cancer or prevent it.   2. Vitamin D3

    Vitamin D3 contains powerful anticancer nutrients found in nature. It influences over 200 genes in the body, reduces inflammation, and inhibits cancer cell growth.
    Vitamin D deficiency is growing among our society. While most people spend more time indoors for fun or work and pollution growing in city skies, we simply cannot get sufficient Vitamin D.  Consult with your physician to test your Vitamin D levels, and figure out how much you need.
  3. Parent Essential Oils (PEOs)

    Essential fatty acids (EFAs) from Parent Essential Oils (PEOs) include omega-6 and omega-3 essential fatty acids. PEOs help oxygenate cells and affect cell membranes. Did you know that the healthier your cell membranes are, the more efficient they are at absorbing nutrients and expelling waste? PEO deficiency can increase risk of cancers, so make sure to get EFAs from PEOs.
    Dr C recommends patients to get omega-3 EFAs from supplemental alpha-linoleic acid and omega-6 EFAs from linoleic acid, which is sourced naturally from foods like walnuts, hazelnuts, and sesame seeds.   4. Pancreatic Proteolytic Enzymes

    Those with pancreatic insufficiency may be caused by stress, toxins, a bad diet, and many other factors. Supplemental enzymes can help digest food and keep it from being overworked by a poor diet.
    Pancreatic enzymes may also aid help break down cancer cells of fibrin, an outer coating that shields them from the immune system. By stripping cancer cells of this protective layer, your immune system can potentially better detect cancer cells and diminish the cancer.

Green Tea: The Anticancer Drink

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month and at Cancer Center For Healing, we want to make sure that you are equipped with the knowledge and tools to prevent and fight cancers.  

EGCG, or Epigallocatechin gallate, is a natural compound produced by plants to defend themselves against pathogens and insects. Found in green tea, EGCG can be a powerful tool to defend against cancer for humans. ⁣ ⁣
Researchers are linking EGCG to cancer cell death, tumor cell death, slowing blood vessel growth in tumors, and many more processes. EGCG is also linked to improve metabolism and help burn body fat– by nearly four times faster!⁣ ⁣ 

There is so much evidence surrounding and supporting green tea to fight and prevent lung cancer. Harvard has found “an association between consuming green tea and a reduced risk for several cancers, including, skin, breast, lung, colon, esophageal, and bladder.” BBC News reported a study and quoted medical experts, “drinking green tea may offer some protection against lung cancer.”

If you don’t have green tea on hand, Dr Connealy also recommends drinking turmeric and ginger teas in her book, The Cancer Revolution.  

“Turmeric and ginger tea are also great for reducing inflammation and contain powerful antioxidants. Ginger, in fact, is a stronger antioxidant than Vitamin E! All of these teas can help stimulate apoptosis (cancer cell death) and are thought to inhibit angiogenesis (the creation of new tumor cells). Ginger also helps combat nausea and vomiting, two common side effects of chemotherapy.”

Exercises For An Anticancer Life

Perhaps the last thing you may want to do is to exercise, but the most important thing to do is to move! We gave you Three Reasons Why Exercise Is The Best Medicine For Breast Cancer and why many doctors would recommend it as part of your cancer treatment.

But what exercises can you do? Do you have the time? Where do you even start?

Leigh Erin Connealy, MD provides an important insight: “The important thing is that you move and do at least an hour of what I call ‘nonexercising activity’ daily. This can include things such as washing dishes, cleaning your house, or folding laundry because even household tasks require energy and get you moving… ”

Harvard Medical School terms this “NEAT” or Nonexercise Activity Thermogenesis. In a study done by Dr. James Levine of the Mayo Clinic, they found that obese individuals sat for an average of 2.5 hours more than lean individuals. Meanwhile, lean individuals stand or walk for more than 2 hours longer than their obese counterparts.

Dr Connealy recommends moving around for 30-60 minutes daily. This can be achieved by getting away from your computer, stretching throughout the day, and establishing small intervals to exercise. After adjusting to a more active lifestyle, you can gradually add more time to build up a more rigorous routine.

If you are bedridden, in a wheelchair, or have a physical handicap that may impede you from exercising, Dr Connealy suggests an alternative: massage therapy. Massage therapy provides some of the same benefits as exercise, as it stimulates blood, lymph, and immune cells while sending oxygen to your tissues.

Top 3 Reasons Why Exercise Is The Best Medicine For Breast Cancer

A common misconception about cancer is that you should rest and avoid exercise. However, being physically active proves to incredibly beneficial for people diagnosed with cancer. In fact, it’s often prescribed as a vital part of cancer treatment!  
 
Leigh Erin Connealy, MD is very clear on her stance about moving to get well: “Exercise isn’t just good for you; it is medicine for your body.” Studies have shown that people with breast cancer and follow regular exercise regimen experience half the relapse rates than those who do not exercise. Here are Dr Connealy’s Top 3 Benefits of Exercise for Breast Cancer:

1. Exercise boosts immune function by circulating immune cells throughout your body, making them more powerful in locating and attacking cancer cells, bacteria, and viruses.  

2. Exercise stimulates the lymphatic system, which increases the movement of immune cells and lymph fluid, bringing cancer-fighting nutrients into the cells and carrying cancer-causing toxins out. The lymph system is a vital circulatory system and the body’s primary immune defense and waste eliminator system; it is critical to managing the elimination of toxins from our body. Another way to achieve maximum stimulation is by Lymphatic Massage Therapy, which is offered at our center.
